TRAVEL:
Immigrants should exercise extreme caution when traveling near the U.S.-Canada or U.S.-Mexico borders. It may be possible to cross an international boundary without realizing it. An accidental crossing can lead to questioning, detention, and immigration related complications upon return to the United States.
We advise that immigrants do not travel near the border to avoid unintentionally crossing the border. If you must travel, know your exact location, stay on designated roads and trails, and avoid areas where the international boundary may not be clearly marked. If you have concerns about your immigration status, consult with an immigration attorney before traveling.
